Cheryl Horton

Project Lead – The Sydney Dialogue

Cheryl Horton is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of ASPI’s annual flagship event, the Sydney Dialogue – the Indo-Pacific’s premier policy summit for critical, emerging, and cyber technologies.

Cheryl brings organisational expertise and relationship building from her previous role as the Program Manager for ASPI’s Defence Strategy Program. During her tenure as Program Manager, Cheryl played a pivotal role in supporting ASPI’s research and analysis across a diverse portfolio, including:

  • broad strategic policy settings
  • global and regional security environments
  • operational neds of the Australian Defence Force
  • development of defence capabilities
  • Defence funding and budgetary issues

Her earlier responsibilities at ASPI included cultivating key partnerships for the Sydney Dialogue, demonstrating her long-standing commitment to the event’s success. Prior to joining ASPI in 2023, Cheryl served as the President of the Parents of Dolphins Swimmers, a significant leadership role within the Australian Swim Team, from 2011 to 2023. Cheryl has a Bachelor of Applied Business (Management) from Latrobe University.
